Oh the love of Jesus...
Psalm 22 - David's prophecy of the crucifixion, he cries out that he is a worm.
Strange language. The Son of God - a worm?
Many have stated that it is a declaration of his humiliation. Yes, that is true. But there is more here than meets the eye.
In the ancient world, there was a worm called the scarlet worm. The ancients would crush the worm to make scarlet dye for their beautiful clothing. Hmmm...
More amazing, the life cycle of the worm. When its life was ending, it would attach itself to wood, give birth to its young, die, the scarlet fluid would ooze out and stain the wood to which it was attached.
What a picture of our Jesus. In His death on the blood stained cross, He gives new birth to His children. Out of His being crushed, something beautiful occurred.
He became a worm, that we might become the children of God.
