Why Did God Create Us?

I think it has something to do with I John 4. "God is love... and love is FROM God".

I think it has something to do with I John 4. "God is love... and love is FROM God".

Why are we here? Why did God create us?

Have you ever pondered these questions?

I have heard the "answers" as I am sure you have as well.  God created us to worship Him. God created us to obey Him. God created us because He was lonely.

I don't think so. Creating us had NOTHING to do with God "needing" anything.

Jn 5:26 says "God has LIFE in Himself."

If you have LIFE, if LIFE is your nature, then you don't need anyone or anything.

Then why did God create us?

I think it has something to do with I John 4. "God is love... and love is FROM God". God created us because He wanted to share His LIFE and LOVE with us. It was not about us being here to do something for God, but us being here so God could do something for us... LOVE US!

The verse goes on to say that we, in turn, LOVE God and others because that is what LOVE from God does.

Hmmmmmmm... Think about it!

Why did you have kids?

Did you have kids to worship you and obey you? If you did, you are in for a rude awakening!!!

No, you had kids to share your life and love with them. Where did you get that idea?

Perhaps from the original first Lover Who wanted to share His LIFE and LOVE. (pretty cool to be so loved)

Kissed Into Existence

I believe we could say that He "kissed us" into existence.

I believe we could say that He "kissed us" into existence.

Let's talk about a "kiss"... or better yet, define a kiss.

Two mouths coming together to exchange tongues and salivic fluid. Isn't that an exciting definition? Doesn't really make someone want to kiss --- does it?

I found a better definition in the dictionary:

Two lips meeting together as a way of expressing love, affection, and devotion. Hmmm.... I like that a lot better.

Why all this talk about a kiss? Let's think about this for a moment.

When God created in the book of Genesis, the text says, He spoke and it was so. All it took was a spoken word, and there were all kinds of life on this planet.

But when it came to man, God did not create by speaking. The Bible tells us that He breathed His breath into man and man became alive. In other words, I believe we could say that He "kissed us" into existence.

From the very beginning of our creation, God was communicating that He loves us,
has affection for us, is devoted to us, and is crazy in love with us.

I believe He kissed us into existence so that we would never doubt that love that He has for us. "For God so loves the world..."

Forever Creating...

God is a creator! That is Who He is.

God is a creator! That is Who He is.

In I Cor 13 we are told that faith, hope, and love endure even when we are in heaven. One might be tempted to ask, why we will need hope in heaven when we will have arrived into the perfect state. The key lies in the definition of hope.

Hope is the confident expectation of MORE TO COME!

The glory of heaven is that there will always be more to embrace and experience because God is infinite and eternal. Please hear me, heaven is not going to be the eternal church service in the sky! That would be boring! We must take care to not see heaven through the eyes of the earthly realm but through the nature and character of God.

God is a creator! That is Who He is.

What would make us think that a created universe could ever exhaust His creative ability? In other words, my personal conviction is that He is going to be eternally creating new and wondrous things. Further, since He created us to share His love with us and express His love through us, and since in His Word He created us to reign with Him in glory, and since He made us in His image, that means we are “little creators.” I believe that He is going to include us in His infinitely creative work for all eternity!

I would liken it to a kaleidoscope. Have you ever looked into a kaleidoscope? When you do, you see this panoramic expression of multi-colored and multi-faceted shapes and you marvel at what you see. But there is more. All it takes is a slight rotation of the kaleidoscope and the shapes and colors change. Every time you turn the kaleidoscope, this phenomenon occurs and you can literally stare for hours and hours and herald "ooh" and "ah" as you observe this glorious creative display. That is what heaven will be like for us as we live in hope, the confident expectation of more, which will be delivered to us by our infinitely Glorious Creator and Father!

WOW!

Our Created Design To Love

"By this the world will know that we are His disciples, in that we love one another. "

"By this the world will know that we are His disciples, in that we love one another."

The word "REPETITION" is to a teacher, what the word "LOCATION" is to a realtor. The real estate mantra is "Location! Location! Location!" The teaching mantra is "Repetition! Repetition! Repetition!"

Well, in I Cor 13:3, Paul repeated three times that without love we are nothing.
HE MADE THIS PERSONAL!

Note, he did not say that what we do is nothing. We can do some pretty incredible things but without love, even though we do great things, we personally remain "nothings..."

Why, that is a hard pill to swallow? Reminds me of old Nicodemus in John 3.... "you mean I must go back to the womb, you mean that everything I did counts for nothing?"

The answer lies in the created design. If we buy a drill but it doesn't drill, it is useless as a drill, EVEN THOUGH we can use it as a screwdriver, a hammer, or as a decoration. The fact remains it is useless according to its design.

Now, we can understand we were designed to be the image bearers of God.

That we were designed to experience and express the love of God.
THAT IS OUR SUPREME PURPOSE for our existence.

But even though we might preach a great sermon, speak in tongues, prophecy, give away all we have, or offer our lives in martyrdom.... if we do those things without loving people, we are failing to fulfill the purpose for which we were created!

At that point, WE ARE NOTHING! WE ARE NOTHING! WE ARE NOTHING!

"By this the world will know that we are His disciples, in that we love one another."

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

In the various tasks of life, there are usually many different ways that we can accomplish the tasks at hand. For example, when mowing my lawn. I can edge first, then, weed-eat and trim, and then mow... or I could mow first, then weed-eat and trim, and then edge... or - you get the idea!

When God created man, there are of course many various ways that He could have done so. When He created the birds, and the sky, and the earth the method He chose was "to speak" those things into being.

But when it came to man, God chose a very different method. He made man with His own hands. Significant? I think so. God made our bodies special and unique. As such, we are to treat them with respect and dignity. The human spine, if you have ever studied it, is a hugely powerful apologetic for the existence of God. We are truly, as Ps 139 says, "Fearfully and wonderfully made."

But let's go further.... that fearfully and wonderfully made body was not yet alive. Here again, God could have just spoke life AT US and we would have been alive. Instead, He chose to "breathe the breath of life into us." Significant? Absolutely, and missed by so many of us. God never does anything without meaning and purpose.

May I suggest to you that you ponder how intimate this method of bringing us to life was? He literally "kissed us into life." And what is a kiss? It is an intimate expression of love. God did not speak us into life, He kissed us into life with a kiss of love. He wanted us to know from the very beginning of our existence, that our purpose in being created was that we were created to be loved by God! HE LOVED YOU FROM THE VERY BEGINNING AND LOVES YOU STILL TODAY! His intention in our very creation was that we would literally breathe His love. WOW!

Shall We Dance?

There are a lot of things about us as humans that make us unique. We have a spine structure that allows us to stand on our two feet as opposed to most other mammals. We have the ability to think and communicate thought in language. We have the ability to use utensils. And how about this one.... we have the ability to dance.

I believe that dancing is part of what makes us unique as man made in the image of God, and that we got that "ability" from God. Early theologians, talking about the love of God, called His love the "perichoresis".... a compound word meaning to dance around.

And so we, made in the image of God Who was motivated to create us in love, dance as God Himself dances... This is what makes us unique among creation... Dogs don't dance. Cats don't dance. And our "evolutionary" grandfathers (as some people believe) the monkeys don't dance.

But we dance, because we were made to celebrate the love of God... (remember David?)

So we really should be "dancing in the aisles as we celebrate His love... The only problem is I DO NOT HAVE VERY MUCH RHYTHM!!! HA!
