Pursuing the Truth Giver

Doctrine was NEVER intended to be an end in itself, but a means to lead us to the Person of Jesus!

Knowledge and Pride

True knowledge includes the truth that God is WAY TOO BIG for us to ever understand. Though we come to know and experience God, we will NEVER, not even in eternity grasp Him fully.

Two Kinds Of Knowledge?

This is the knowledge of God that likewise has one purpose --- others.

This is the knowledge of God that likewise has one purpose --- others.

I Corinthians 8 Paul made it clear that there are two kinds of knowledge of God. There is knowledge of God and there is the true knowledge of God.

The difference?

Knowledge of God puffs up, makes one arrogant, divisive and critical. This is a knowledge of God that has only one purpose --- the exaltation of myself.

The true knowledge of God is that which makes one loving. This is the knowledge of God that likewise has one purpose --- others.

Oh, that the true knowledge of God would be known and expressed.  Jesus said it was this that would turn the world upside down --- LOVE.

Clay Pots Full Of Greatness!

There are no earthly heroes, my friend, there are only clay pots that the Hero of all Heroes expresses Himself through.

There are no earthly heroes, my friend, there are only clay pots that the Hero of all Heroes expresses Himself through.

I Corinthians 1:29 says, "no man should boast before God." Two verses later Paul writes "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord." One says it negatively, the other positively. I think Paul did that purposely so we would hear it. Later, he will write that we have no adequacy in ourselves, but that our adequacy comes from God.

We must guard against the adoration of man. It is true that men are able to say great things and do great things in the kingdom of God, but we must never forget that they are able to do those things because of the "greatness" of the Person that dwells in and through them.

There are no earthly heroes, my friend, there are only clay pots that the Hero of all Heroes expresses Himself through.

Lies and Truth

Truth sets us free from the bondage of those lies!

Truth sets us free from the bondage of those lies!

LIES! LIES! LIES!
They are everywhere! In the workplace, in our families, IN OUR GOVERNMENT, and especially and sadly in our churches!

That is why Truth, when it is revealed, is so very precious to us. Truth sets us free from the bondage of those lies! There is however, a sneaky and grave danger in our reception of the truth or revelation that we receive.

We can become enamored with the truth, instead of the TRUTH GIVER! We can glory in "the revelation" instead of the Revealer!

When we do that we become "men with a message" or "women with a word" instead of sons/daughters of God boasting in their Father (Son and Spirit). And instantly following on our heels is the PRIDE of being RIGHT over and against all those others who are WRONG! Oh how sneaky!

Remember the words of Jesus in John 5:39... "you search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life, but it is these that bear witness of ME!...

(and then the sad conclusion)

"... but you are unwilling to come to ME that you might have LIFE!"

Doctrine was NEVER intended to be an end in itself, but a means to lead us to the Person of Jesus!

He came to have a relationship with you...

He came to have a relationship with you...

Perhaps I should say it this way:
Jesus did not come to this planet for the express purpose of dying for your sins... He came to have a relationship with you and dying for your sins was the only way He could get that relationship.

This is the great glory that we have through faith in the Person and work of Christ --- THAT WE KNOW HIM, THE POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION, AND THE FELLOWSHIP OF HIS SUFFERINGS (don't forget that one)...

Glory in the awe and wonder that through receiving HIM, we have the authority to be called a child of God!

Trusting Instead of Trying

Jesus longs for us to live the life of trusting instead of trying.

Jesus longs for us to live the life of trusting instead of trying.

In the church, the man who labors for God with the goal of being like God is highly valued! The work is great and the workers so few that the highly disciplined and sacrificial man or woman is in high demand. The church calls such a man or woman – “A man of God” or “a woman of God” but do you know what God calls such a one? He calls them a rebel! What? How can that be? Because that man or woman who is trying to be like God is living out of the wrong economy.

God established an economy whereby man would live FROM God by faith.

This is the economy man was intended to live in. It is the same economy that Jesus did live in. He said on numerous occasions that without His Father, He could do nothing. He said unequivocally that it was only as He heard, that He Himself spoke. He blatantly declared that the works that He did, were actually the works of the Father in Him and through Him. That’s right, Jesus walked on the water, but it was the Father walking on the water through Him. This is the economy that man was designed for and intended by God to live in. But in the garden man chose to not live out of this economy, instead he/she chose to live out of the economy of “being like God”. Man would function independent of God and do life His own way with his own resources.

Jesus longs for us to live the life of trusting instead of trying.

Jesus made it very clear in John 15, that just He could do nothing without the Father, so we can do nothing without Him. He is the Vine of true life and only when we branches connect to Him can He bear His vine life through us and produce fruit in us.

Man was never intended to be like God in the way he lived, he was intended to trust God to be God in and through Him by faith! That is why a man who tries to be like God, though he may look good and labor much, is actually a rebel in God’s eyes!

Simply Being Right Isn't God's Sole Intention For Us.

It seems to me that the church, as I have observed it, has made the issue of "Being Right" it's main agenda. Don't get me "wrong"... being "right" is very important. We better be "right" about Who God is and what He has done and longs to do in and through us as we trust Him by faith... I myself study Father's Word intently because I want what is right, I want the truth because I want the freedom that truth brings. But being right in and of itself was never the intended goal. That would be like getting a paycheck and never cashing it. By the way, I have especially seen this agenda among those who "claim" to know the grace of God, after all, we are "right...right?" But if we truly are "right" about the grace of God, then should we not be known by "LOVE"? Dare we say it, yes, by our love for the legalist and the religionist and even for those who disagree with our grace?

Father's Word does not say we will be known as His disciple if we have "right" doctrine... but rather that we will known as His disciples by our "love"... You see, LOVE is the evidence that we are right. Love is cashing and spending the check of being right... Love is the proof that we have come to know God and the He, the lover, lives in and through us by faith.
